Wedded bliss and a sneak peek

Life is not measured in the number of breaths we take, but in the moments that take our breath away ~ Hilary Cooper

Our wedding day was one of those days that just took my breath away.

I know it's so corny but it was the happiest day of my life.  Everything turned out perfectly and the things that didn't made hilarious stories.

The sheer overwhelming number of people who helped us make the day happen and the unbelievable generosity of people in their words, gifts and love was simply mind blowing.

You're surrounded all day by the people you care for the most in the world, people who know you inside out and want the best for you and getting to see them smile, enjoy the food and drink and have a good time gave us the BIGGEST buzz.

And to top it off, I got to say my vows to the person I love, in front of all our friends, family and God.

Amazing, overwhelming, indescribable.

Not that there weren't any tears...there were plenty of them too! The bittersweetness that my dad and my grandma and all those who have passed away couldn't be there with us just made you appreciate the happy times that much more.

It really is so hard to put into words the utter awesomeness of the whole day.

I wish I had photos to show you!  The photogs are hard at work and will get them to us in a couple of weeks so in the meantime I just couldn't resist taking these pics of our pretty wedding rings with the gorgeously wrapped presents from Smith & Caugheys.

Sooooooo stay tuned and watch this space for the proper pro photos and a full run down of the day: the tea ceremonies, the 11 course Chinese banquet and how the cake went!

Having said that they did send us the below photo as a sneak peek... :)

***EDIT***

I was asked by my brother in law where the recipe was in this post.  So here's the recipe :)

Recipe for a Happy Marriage

1 cup of consideration
2 cupfuls of praise
1 reasonable budget
1 litre of faith and trust and each other
A generous dash of cooperation
3 teaspoons of pure extract of “I am sorry”
1 cup of confidence and encouragement
1 large or several small hobbies
1 1/2 cups of blindness to each others faults
1 small pinch of in-laws
1 cup of contentment

1 teaspoon each of forgiveness, patience and understanding
1 barrel of laughter

Flavour with a dash of compromise and add a sense of humour.  Stir well and remove any specks of jealousy, temper, or criticism. Sweeten well with generous portions of love and keep warm with a steady flame of devotion. Never serve with a cold shoulder.

  3. Hey Congratulations Mrs Nessie! ;)
There is nothing cheesy about a once-off beautiful moment in life. If it's cheesy, then I'd be delusional too.
Looks like you've had one of those amazing NZ day. I wish you all the wonderful journeys to come!
